Valpolicella Iris: Where Nature Inspires Art and Luxury

Awaiting the blooming of my May irises, I was struck by a wonderful idea—rich in imagery—that weaves together the unique botany of Valpolicella with Chanel’s event and artistic inspiration.

Valpolicella is not just a land of great wines; it is a botanical mosaic where the iris, both elegant and resilient, grows wild among vineyards and trails. This extraordinary flower has enchanted painters like Van Gogh and captivated iconic maisons such as Chanel and Prada, becoming a timeless emblem of refinement and inspiration.

From May 21 to 25, Chanel will pay homage to the iris with “L’aventure est dans les jardins”, an extraordinary 300-meter experiential garden in the heart of Paris, at Villa Windsor Park, during JARDINS JARDIN. A sensory journey from Pegomas to Grasse reveals the sustainable cultivation of iris and sandalwood—precious secrets behind legendary perfumes like Chanel N°5 and Coco Mademoiselle.

A fascinating detail: it takes no less than three years to extract the precious essence from iris roots—a true act of patience and craftsmanship that brings nature into the highest expression of luxury.

Yet another reason to feel proud of a botanical heritage that never ceases to amaze—between vineyards, art, and iconic fragrances.
